To make the process go smoothly and efficiently, being prepared helps a lot. The seaming diagram is the installers’ “blueprint” that shows the overall layout and assists them in the cutting of the carpet. Only professionals are able to ensure that seams are placed accurately.
A transition is the point where two distinct flooring products meet. Transitions can only be minimised by professionals.
Before installation day
Removing the furniture is step one.
Remove all contents of the closets.
Be prepared about disposing of the existing floor covering.
Moldings and baseboards may need to be removed as well.
Painted baseboards may need to be retouched as well.
Check with your retailer beforehand so you are clear about the clean-up.
On installation day
Make sure you are present at home and keep a check on the areas where the carpet is to be laid.
Keep children and pets out of the work zone.
After installation
After installation, ensure adequate ventilation for about 48 to 72 hours.
Trim the loose fibers poking out of the carpet using small scissors.
