EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT INSTALLATION DAY

Before the big day, we will deliver your solid hardwood floor. This is so that the wood can acclimate to the temperature and humidity level of your home before it is installed.

On the day of installation, make sure your home is ready when the crew arrives. In order to install new hardwood flooring the furniture will need to be moved out of the way. It is the responsibility of the homeowner, unless it has been previously arranged and is part of your project. Ensuring that the furniture and other items are out of the way will make the whole process go smoothly and efficiently.

Here are some of the most common hardwood installation processes.

1. NAIL DOWN: 2” CLEATS DO THE JOB.

The most traditional method of professional installation is the nail down method. The flooring is attached to the subfloor using 2″ nailing cleats with a mallet and flooring nailer.

2. STAPLE DOWN:

An alternative way to install natural wood floors is the staple down method. This method makes use of 1-1/2 to 2-inch staples and a pneumatic gun to attach the wood floor to the subfloor.

3. GLUE DOWN:

The glue down method is becoming increasingly popular. The process involves the use of an adhesive and a trowel to attach the wood flooring. This works for certain types of hardwood floors.

4. FLOATING:

The floating method is another way to get your flooring materials installed. In this method, a thin pad is placed between the subfloor and the hardwood planks to bind them together.

Before installation day

Here are a few tips to remember before your first quality flooring is installed on installation day.

  • Remove the furniture from the work area.
  • Remove all the contents from your cabinets or cupboards.
  • Maintain the Indoor humidity level between 45-65%.
  • Keep the subfloor clean and uniform.
  • Prepare for the clean-up as well.

During Installation:

  • Some installers might remove doors also during the installation process.
  • Children and pets need to be kept out of the work zone.
  • Make sure you walk through the job with your installers to be sure of the installation and get the desired changes done.

After installation day

  • Ensure adequate ventilation for 48 to 72 hours after installation of your new floor.
